ATTENTION ALL PARENTS OF SECOND GRADERS

Dear Parents:  If your child attends CCD or any Catholic school and will be making their First Confession and Communion in the Spring, then you are expected to attend the “Parent Instruction”  to be held on Sunday, January 17, 2016 in the Holy Name Hall immediately after the 11:30 am Mass.  Parents will be given the tools and materials they will need to prepare their children for these two sacraments.

CHILDREN'S 2016 CONTRIBUTION ENVELOPES

These are available for your use.  CCD students received them in class. Catholic school and High School students can locate theirs in the back vestibule in Holy Name Church.

ATTENTION ALL WOMEN

After the hustle and bustle of Christmas, we all need time to reflect on and refresh our Spiritual Life.  The Christian Mothers and Guild cordially invites all women to our one-day Retreat on Tuesday, January 12th at the Divine Redeemer Motherhouse on Rock Run Road in Elizabeth (across from Butler Golf Course).  The Theme of the Retreat is "Women on a Mission".

The day will begin with a meet and greet at 10:00am, the $20 fee will include lunch.  Fr. Tom will celebrate Holy Mass. Our day will conclude around 4-4:30pm.  Please make reservations with either Pat Schorr 412-675-0169 or Carol Worek 412-466-0748. Please join us.  Car pooling will be available.  Reservation deadline, Sunday, January 10th.

ATTENTION CHRISTIAN MOTHERS

There will be no more meetings until April.  However, we will be attending Sunday Mass as a group on Saturday, January 16, 5pm Mass at HN Church.  The Rosary will be recited at 4:45pm.

HOAGIE SALE NEXT WEEKEND

Our next sale will be January 9/10 after all the weekend Masses. These Homemade Hoagies are a great buy for $5.00.

Volunteers:  we need lots of help to construct the hoagies within a 3 hour time frame. Just show up at 8am in the Holy Name Hall and we’ll put you to work.  It is lots of fun and you get to meet some great people. Orders:  If you would like to pre-order your hoagies, just call the rectory and we will have them ready for you.

SETH BUDAI UPDATE

As many of you know, Seth Budai has been battling a rare form of cancer for the last 18 months. Just before Christmas, he received some disheartening news and was admitted to Johns Hopkins Hospital on Christmas Day.  He is now undergoing a new round of radiation therapy which he hopefully will be able to continue on the outpatient level.  Please keep Seth and his wife Meredith in your thoughts and prayers. For more information and updates on Seth, please visit his Caring Bridge site. We are ‪#‎SETHSTRONG‬!

“I would like to thank our friends and the entire church community of Christ The Light of the World Parish and Saint Joseph's. The prayers from Fr. Tom were so beautiful and it warms my heart to know that so many people love Seth like they do….Please keep, keep, praying for Seth. Please pray that the radiation works and that his body will be ready for the chemotherapy as soon as possible after that. Please pray that he will qualify for that special drug, along with the others, and that he tolerates it well. Please keep praying for a remission or in the very least stability. Above all, please keep praying for him to have strength and courage, to laugh, to smile, and to find some joy each and every day amidst all of the difficult things that he has to deal with. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!” —Meredith(from Seth’s Caring Bridge site)

A SPECIAL THANK YOU

A very special thank you is extended to Mary Jane Davies as she retires from her many, many years of ministry to Holy Name Church as a devoted sacristan dedicated to taking care of all the church linens used weekly at Masses.

2016 CHILDREN'S/FAMILY CALENDARS
