MEMORIAL DONATIONS FOR FATHER DENNIS

Father Dennis often said, "We don’t get to choose what we get in life, so we have to make the best of it.” And make the best of it he did—Father Dennis taught us to live filled with joy and with love no matter what. He continues to inspire us by requesting that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to ALS Research in his memory. You may also write a check made out to and sent to:  ALS ASSOCIATION Western Pennsylvania Chapter, 416 Lincoln Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15209, or  use the forms around the church and drop them in the collection basket.  Write “In Memory of Father Dennis” on your check.  All donations will be counted toward the Team Father Dennis fundraising goal at the 2015 Pittsburgh Walk to Defeat ALS.

THANK YOU

The family of Mel Achtzehn extends a heartfelt thank you to all the parishioners who gave their thoughts, prayers, assistance and professional abilities in helping with Mel Achtzehn’s medical emergency at the Easter Vigil Mass last Saturday evening. It was a great comfort to our family and you are all loved for it.  We are very happy to report that Mel is alive and doing well.  The Achtzehn Family

RUNNING FOR A REASON: IN MEMORY OF FATHER DENNIS

Dear Parish Family:  As he was to so many of us, Father Dennis was not only the priest who baptized my wife Tara and performed our wedding vows, but more importantly he was a very dear and inspiring friend.  It was the inspirational way that he lived his last two years that made me want to do something special for him.

The Sunday before he passed, Tara and I had lunch with him and his family and I asked him for what ended up being his final favor to me—his permission to run the Pittsburgh Marathon and raise money for ALS in his honor. It was a very emotional moment for both of us, and I was extremely thankful to receive his blessing and support.

If you would like to sponsor me in running the Pittsburgh Marathon on Sunday, May 3 and join the effort to fight ALS, you can donate at http://www.crowdrise.com/jasonhoover1Your donation will help fund the efforts of the ALS Association’s Western Pennsylvania Chapter.  Thank you in advance for your support.   Jason Hoover

PRAYER SQUARES

You will notice that around the churches today there are containers with “Prayer Squares” made by the “Stitches of Love” group.  Please take one and carry it in your pocket or purse.  A note is attached to each one to remind you that you are loved, cared for, and prayed for always. We will continue to replenish the containers over the next few weeks so that hopefully every parishioner will be able to have one.
