“Books of Remembrances:”  You will find today in the center aisle of both churches the “Memorial Books” in which you are asked to write the names of all your deceased family, friends and loved ones you would like to have remembered in a special way at our All Souls celebrations on Sunday, November 1 at both the 9:00am & 11:30am Masses.

“Masses of Remembrance:”  On Sunday, November 1, there will be a special Mass of Remembrance for all those who died since last All Souls Day from Christ the Light of the World Parish and St. Joseph Parish.  Invitations are being sent to one family member of those to be remembered and they are asked to notify other family members.

RCIA CLASSES ARE BEGINNING

The first session for those making their faith journey in Jesus and desiring to do this by becoming Catholic will begin on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at 6:30 PM.  We will be meeting in the Holy Name Church Hall.  If anyone still feels the call of Jesus in his or her heart by making this journey in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA), please come to this first session.  We presently have four adults who are making this journey and three children in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Children (RCIC).  We ask that the Parish Faith Community keeps them in supportive, loving prayer as they make this journey of faith.

2016 MASSES BEING SCHEDULED

You may begin scheduling Masses at Christ the Light of the World and St. Joseph Parishes for next year. You may schedule four Masses a year.  In order to make this process easy, we ask that you observe the following procedures:

  • You may schedule Mass at any time, in any church on a first come first served basis.
  • Only two weekend Masses may be scheduled; the other two must be scheduled during the week.
  • Only phone calls will be accepted.  No walk-ins at the rectory will be taken.
  • Call the parish office (412-469-0196) between 9 am & 3 pm, Monday through Friday. If no one is available leave a voice mail for Terry Fuller. Leave your name and phone number.  She will return your call in the order received.
  • When calling please have the dates, times, place and intentions ready & available.

Lectors for the Children’s Celebrations: beginning with the Mass at 4:00 on Christmas Eve. We need students to read the Announcements, First Reading from Scripture, Second Reading from Scripture, and Prayers of the Faithful.

Singers for the Adult Choir: We are opening the Adult Choir to High School Students who love to sing. We rehearse Wednesday Evenings at 7:15 at Holy Name Church and rotate through the churches for Mass on weekends.

Musicians for Enhancing Our Celebrations: Do you play a musical instrument well and can read music? We are looking for High School Students who would like to offer their talents to enhance and expand our music program.

HOMEMADE HOAGIE SALE NEXT WEEKEND

We will be selling our homemade hoagies at all the weekend Masses. They are still a great buy for $5.00.  Sellers:  To make these sales super, we would ask that you consider taking orders at work and taking them in on Monday morning.  Volunteers:  we need lots of help to construct the hoagies within a 3 hour time frame.  Just show up at 8am in the Holy Name Hall and we’ll put you to work.  It is lots of fun and you get to meet some great people.  Orders:  If you would like to pre-order your hoagies, call the rectory and we will have them ready for you.

THANK YOU

We acknowledge with sincere gratitude the $240 in memorial gifts made to the parish in loving memory of Lillian Kubasak.
