MEETING WITH THE REGIONAL VICAR & CAPITAL CAMPAIGN NEWS UPDATE

  • This week, we completed several important meetings.  The staff and pastoral & finance councils meet with the regional vicar to discuss the status of our parishes in Duquesne as well as consider plans for the future and what they thought the churches of Duquesne will look like in the future.  Once his report is sent, it will be available for everyone.
  • We have begun the first steps for our participation in the Diocesan wide “Capital Campaign” that all parishes must participate in.  These steps included informing and educating the councils on how this campaign will operate and asking their help.  All parishioners will continue to be informed as we move along in this process.

WELCOME NEW MEMBERS

We would like to welcome Raymond Jarusinski, who has come to join our parish this week.

BAPTISMS

Congratulations to the family of Allison Dorothy Lucas, who was baptized into God’s family this week.

ALTAR SERVERS BEING RECRUITED

We are in the process of recruiting boys and girls to participate in this “special ministry” of our parish.  It is a priviledge, honor and joy to serve at the altar with Fr. Dennis and the other liturgical ministers.  I hope that parents would encourage their children to participate.  This ministry is open to any boy or girl, 5th grade and older.  You are only asked to serve usually once a month.  There will be two training sessions and you will start being scheduled after Easter. If interested, call Fr. Dennis.

THANK YOU'S

  • Dear Fr. Dennis and Parishioners:  Thank you so much for your kind and generous donations after our recent fire. The Lord has blessed us with so many unselfish, amazing family and friends.  We are blessed to belong to such a caring, faith filled church community.  The love we have felt throughout all of this has been one very few feel.  We love you and will keep everyone in our prayers……………………..Brother & Sister in Christ, Ken &  Sandy
  • Thanks: To all the parishioners of both parishes who participated in making the “Stocking Stuffer Holiday Raffle” a huge success.  These and all our fundraisers are necessary for us to continue to keep our parishes viable.  Our profit for Christ the Light of the World Parish was $7,930.00 and for St. Joseph was $2,790.00.

VALENTINE'S DAY WEEKEND DINNER

Our last Saturday evening dinner was such a huge success, that we wanted to have another.  This one will take place on Saturday, February 15 from 3 – 7 pm in the Holy Name Hall.  This dinner will be served “buffet style,” – eat in or take out.  The menu will include Fried chicken served with 3 sides (macaroni & cheese, green beans & cole slaw.)  Donation is $8.00 for adults and $4.00 for children (12 & under.)  Baked goods will be available.  Also, “something sweet for your sweetheart.” Every “eat in” adult will receive a complimentary glass of wine.  Avoid the Saturday night Valentines Day CROWDS at any restaurant and come for good food and fellowship.

  • Volunteers, Servers, Prepsters:  We need lots of volunteers to help in many ways.  Volunteers to work the buffet line; helpers to come in the day before to do prep work; and many other jobs.  If you can give a few hours of time and help in anyway, call Ray Judy (412-518-2152) or call the rectory or drop us an email at office@christthelightoftheworld.org
