THANK YOU RECEIVED

Dear Parishioners:  On behalf of all of us at Michael’s Place, I want to express our gratitude for your outstanding generosity again this year.  Several residents asked if they could write thank you notes.  I am enclosing one written by “Tom”.  Like most men we serve, he came to us with only the clothes he was wearing and a garbage bag containing his few possessions.  Tom faced many challenges.  He dropped out of high school, but during his time with us he got his GED, is taking classes at CCAC and working at a restaurant supply company.  His story expresses how kindness of people like you has inspired his journey.  Their future does not have to be determined by their past. Linda Kilderry, Director

Dear Parishioners:  I am currently a resident at Michael’s Place and it has been my home for 18 months.  I have been very fortunate to have the opportunity to live here and work a program of recovery. I am writing to thank those of you who make this place possible and to all those who made contributions during the holiday season.  It is amazing to see that there are people who believe in what we are trying to do during our stay here.  The holiday season can be tough on residents, including myself. To  see that people I have never met and do not know who I am,  make Christmas possible here is simply amazing and is truly an inspiration to me.  Michael’s Place has given me new hope and a new way of  life and it was made possible by people like you.  I thank you  for  what you have done and  the gifts I received.  “Tom”

BAPTISMS

Congratulations to the family of Layla Jean Kenney, who is being baptized into God’s family this week.

ALTAR SERVERS BEING RECRUITED

We are in the process of recruiting boys and girls to participate in this “special ministry” of our parish.  It is a priviledge, honor and joy to serve at the altar with Fr. Dennis and the other liturgical ministers.  I hope that parents would encourage their children to participate.  This ministry is open to any boy or girl, 5th grade and older.  You are only asked to serve usually once a month.  There will be two training sessions and you will start being scheduled after Easter. If interested, call Fr. Dennis.

HOMEMADE HOAGIE SALE

We will be having our monthly “Homemade Hoagie Sale” on the weekend of March 1 & 2.  We are grateful for the support that you have given to this project.  If anyone would like to place an order, you may do so by calling the rectory or emailing us at office@christthelightoftheworld.org.   We are having more and more businesses placing orders, picking them up on Saturday or Sunday and delivering them on Monday.  They are $5.00 each and a great buy for the price.
  • Volunteers:  This project couldn’t happen without the great group of 25 – 30 regular volunteers.  It is a positive, social, fun time for everyone.  Anyone is invited to volunteer.  The time commitment is about 3 hours on Saturday beginning at 8 am.  For those who work during the week, it gives them a chance to help the parish.  Just show up and you will be given a job.  The more help we have the quicker we are finished.

DIVORCED, WIDOWED, SEPARATED?

The loss of a spouse through separation, divorce or death is a most traumatic experience.  Many people who have suffered this loss feel left out by their church, uneasy around married friends, unsure of themselves, and uncertain about the future.  The Beginning Experience weekend is intended to help those who would like to pass through grief and begin to move forward with their lives. Come to a safe place. Travel from heartache to hope.  The next weekend will be held March 21 – 23 at Gilmary Center in Moon Twp. For more information go to www.BeginningExperience.org or make a confidential call to Mary (412-523-2405) or Steve (412-367-4948.)
