We had an outstanding attendance at all of our Masses:   4:00 PM [SJ] – 591; 6:00 PM [HN] – 522; 9:00 PM [HN] – 494; 10:00 AM [SJ] – 215.   Bringing this many people to Duquesne for prayer is a true testimony to affirm all that we do here.

BAPTISMS

Congratulations to the family of  Nina Bella Weaver, who is baptized into God’s family this weekend.

THANK YOU - THANK YOU - THANK YOU

Despite the pastor’s health issues, this Advent/Christmas Seasons were as beautiful as ever.  I would like to thank everyone who in any way made that possible.  From the decorations inside and outside, to the wonderful spiritually uplifting and prayerful liturgies with tasteful and well executed music, we didn’t miss a beat. Hopefully, you will compliment the music ministry and choir on the great job they do not only during the holidays but all year long.

  • On a personal note: I would like to thank everyone for the many ways they shared Christmas spirit with me through prayers, cards, gifts, monetary donations, backed goods.  In which ever way you reached out to me with your care, love and support know that I am humbly grateful for all that you do. Fr. Dennis

BEING THE OUTSTRETCHED LOVING ARMS OF JESUS (ONCE AGAIN)

If you were at any of our Christmas Masses, Fr. Dennis reminded us of how the Lord continues to give us a dose of reality and bring us back to the simple,  important things of life.  Once again, we are being given the opportunity  to “be Christ for one another.”  Two days before Christmas, Ken & Sandy Kracinosky’s house burned.  So many people want to respond to them.  We are going to reachout in two ways which will be timely and effective.

  • The Women’s Spiritual Focus Group at their meeting on Wednesday,  Jan. 8 are going to hold a “Household Goods Replacement Shower/Party.   Bring a newly purchased item that they could use once their house becomes livable again.  This event is open to everyone from both parishes who wishes to attend.  Refreshments will be served.
  • REACHOUT:  Anyone who might want to reach out, can make a monetary donation or donate a gift card (from a store where they may purchase household items.) Send it to the rectory or drop it in the collection and we will deliver them personally. Make the checks to “Ken & Sandy Kracinosky.”  Write their names on the outside of the envelope.

ATTENTION ALL PARENTS OF SECOND GRADERS

Dear Parents:  If your child attends CCD or any Catholic school and will be making their First Confession and Communion in the Spring, then you are expected to attend the “Parent Instruction”  to be held on Sunday, January 19, 2014 in the Holy Name Hall immediately after the 11:30 am Mass.  The parents will be given the tools and materials that they will need to prepare their children for these two sacraments.

STAFF - PASTORAL COUNCIL MEMBERS - FINANCNE COUNCIL MEMBERS

Please mark your calendars for Monday, January 27 to meet with Fr. Fred Cain, our regional vicar.  He will meet with the paid staff during the day and the other members of parish leadership of both parishes in the evening in the Holy Name Hall. Your attendance at this meeting is expected.  If you are unable to attend, call Fr. Dennis.
