FLEA MARKET THANK YOU AND REPORT
We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who in anyway helped make this year’s flea market a huge success again. Under the chairmanship of Louise Yevick and the 42 other volunteers (from both parishes) who worked the days of the sale, as well as preparing the items a fun-filled three day event occurred. Getting the items ready – unpacking, washing, setting up, categorizing, etc) is truly a “special ministry.” We can also not forget the many people who brought items to be sold and Chinese auction prizes; those who made donations of food, drink, baked goods. Our expenses were held at a bare minimum because of the generosity of parishioners who made donations and prepared food.
This event not only benefits the parish but it is especially beneficial and appreciated by the members of the Duquesne community who come to support this sale by purchasing thousands of donated items. So many people commented how this event is a blessing for their family because working minimal paying jobs they don’t always have the opportunity to get needed items and accessories for their family. Our sale, its rock bottom pricing and the friendly atmosphere make them fell welcomed and appreciated. This year’s profit was $7,075.66.

GOLDEN WEDDING ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
The Diocese of Pittsburgh is planning it’s annual Golden Wedding Anniversary Celebration for couples celebrating 50 years of marriage. It will be held at St. Paul Cathedral on October 21, 2012 at 2:30 pm. If you would like to receive an invitation to this event, call the rectory or drop your name in the collection basket by August 5, 2012.
Christ the Light of the World Parish and St. Joseph Parish are again on the “cutting edge.” In order to meet the need of our growing CCD program and help our busy families for the first time this year beginning in August, we will be offering “online registration.” We will still be offering “in person” registration for parents who would like to come in and meet with the teachers to discuss this year’s current curriculum or any issues relating to your child. Look for the announcement in the bulletin with both types of registration dates. This is an exciting opportunity for you and us.
