PIEROGIES - ALL LENT LONG

Gosia’s pierogies will be available at the Fish Fry on March 16, as well as all during Lent.  Just stop by Holy Name Rectory to pick up as many as you need.  We will be selling potato/cheese and sweet cabbage.  They are selling for $6.00 a dozen.

THANK YOU

To the parishioner who wishes to remain anonymous, who donated a 10” radial arm saw to the cause of church improvement.  At this time, it seems our tooling needs have been generously met.

SAVE THE DATE

We would like to notify everyone that the date and place of our annual “Breast Cancer Awareness Benefit – Our Healing Touch” has been secured.  It will be held on Saturday, April 28 in the Knights of Columbus Hall, West Mifflin.  Make sure you mark your calendars for this wonderful and worthwhile benefit.  Details on how you may participate will be published in a few weeks.

MEMORIAL EASTER FLOWERS

Make a donation in memory or honor of a friend, family member or loved one.  Use your Easter flower collection envelope and drop your donation in the collection anytime up until Easter.  Be sure to include your name.  A memorial listing will be published after Easter.

EASTER BUNNY RAFFLE

For a $10.00 donation, each ticket gives you 36 chances to win, commencing on Easter Sunday, April 8 through Mother’s Day, May 13.  There is $100.00 winner each day, except for Easter Sunday and Mother’s Day which has a $200.00 prize.  If you would like extra for Easter gifts or Easter Basket stuffers, call the rectory and we will send you some OR mail your request and donation and we will send you the ticket that you need. These fundraisers go a long way to helping keep up our parish.  Your participation is vital.

MARCH HOAGIE SALE

Our next weekend sale is March 3& 4.  You can order yours by calling Holy Name Rectory or pick them up before or after the weekend Masses or stop by Saturday morning from 9:30 am – 11:30 am.

  • Volunteers:  last month 31 volunteers showed up to help.  We are considering expanding our sales so we hopefully would like to get some more so we can stay within our 3 hour time frame.  This event is a lot of fun and you get to meet new people willing to help the parish.  It is especially good for those people who work and can’t help out at weekday events.
  • Sellers:  we have also had an increase in those willing to take orders to work or put up a sign up sheet.  Once your co-workers try the hoagies, they become regular customers.  Where can you get a whole lunch for $5.00.

YOUR 2 FOR 1 CHALLENGE DONATIONS AT WORK

The issues with the physical plant and buildings seem like a never ending challenge.  We have noticed that the marbleized walls behind the piano and next to the tabernacle and the wall next to the baptismal font are deteriorating and crumbling due to another water invasion.  What they found was the flashing, gutters and chimney on the right side were deteriorated and allowing water to leach all the way down the wall and the chimney on the left side of the church was ready to fall and thus allowing for water infiltration. The hole in the ceiling will be part of this project.  It is 2 massive repair projects going on at the same time.

  • Work To Begin:  The work is scheduled to begin within the next week.  Your may have to move your regular seat due to the erecting of the scaffolding.  I did receive an insurance check covering the work to be done minus the $1,000.00 deductible on each of the 2 jobs that totals $2,000.00 as a cost to the parish. Your continual 2-for-1 challenge dollar donations are being put to good use.
