BAPTISMS

Congratulations to the family of John Santiago Sakoian, who is baptized into God’s family this weekend.

REST IN PEACE

Please remember Irene Knapton and Anna Thomas, who died and rose to new life with the Lord this week.

SHARE YOUR JOY BY BRINGING JOY TO OTHERS

You are asked to reachout to our parishioners in nursing homes, personal care homes, assisted living facilities and our home centered elderly by sending them a note or card to some or all. This reachout is appreciated not only by the person, but it touches their families as well, just to know that their loved one or parent is not forgotten by their parish.  Truly,“Joy Attracts.”  The updated lists are found around the churches!!

CELEBRATING THE SEASON OF ADVENT

Rite and Sacrament of Reconciliation:  We will celebrate this sacrament in a guilt free, non-judgmental way after the weekend Masses on Dec. 15/16.  You may also have private, personal confession by calling Fr. Dennis.

Memorial Christmas Flowers:  Use your “Christmas flower envelope” to make a donation in memory or honor of a family member, loved one or friend.  Write down their names. Drop in the collection or mail to the rectory until Christmas.  A memorial listing will be published after the Christmas season.

Christmas Wafers (Oplatki):  These wafers will be available at Holy Name Rectory, Monday thru Friday (9am – 5 pm) and from the ushers at the 5pm Sat. and 11:30 am Sun. Masses and in the sacristy after the 9 am Mass.

Reachout in Love:  Anyone wishing to help the needy during the Holiday Season is invited to make either a monetary donation or a food store gift card.  This is a simple, effective and caring way to let those who receive, accept in an anonymous yet dignified manner.

CHRISTIAN MOTHERS NEWS

The Christian Mothers will meet on Tuesday, December 18.  They will pray the Rosary at 11:45 am followed by Mass at 12 noon in [HN] Church.  Ladies are asked to wear their Christmas glitter and bring their cookie tin with at least 3 dozen cookies for the cookie exchange.  A light lunch will be served and Christmas Carols will be sung by the members.  Don’t forget to bring your non-perishable food item for the Intersection.

THANK YOU RECEIVED

Dear Fr. Colamarino:  You and your parishioners are to be commended for your “Spirit of Giving.”  The 69 bags of groceries and paper products donated to Jubilee are a true blessing for us and our guests. Your thoughtful generosity is multiplied into many blessings.  We continue to serve wholesome meals daily to 150 – 200 guests.  Our pantry on Polish Hill provides take home food for 65 families and delivers to 70 elderly shutins bi-weekly.  At present we have 30 children in our John Heinz Family Child Develpement Center.  Two of our graduates, who were here from infancy, have entered Central Catholic High School this term.

It is wonderful to have the support of my home town. Sister Liguori Rossner, Executive Director

PERSONAL REFLECTIONS ON THE WOMEN'S SPIRITUAL FOCUS GROUP

I am so thankful that a women’s group was initiated for our parishes.  My niece belongs to such a group and hearing her stories made me hope for that kind of sharing of faith and fellowship.  Since its inception just a few short months ago, the women’s group has uplifted my spirit by just knowing there are many others of FAITH. I have always had a deep and strong relationship with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, but now my learning and understanding are deeper than ever.  It has always been my hope to be an inspiration to others, that others may see the light of God within me, that my faith may somehow change a life for the better.  Not too long ago, Fr. Dennis asked for those who thought they were prophets to raise their hands.  I raised my hand proudly, before I knew if that was a good thing or a bad thing! Because this year having been diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer, having undergone brain surgery, chemotherapy and radiation, I can testify/witness more than ever to the greatness of God, the protection of Jesus and the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
