We would like to remind everyone that the “2 FOR 1 Challenge” will officially be over on December 31, 2012.  All donations made until then are free of Diocesan tax.  If anyone would like to keep making donations for the fullest benefit of the parish, you may do so starting January 1, 2013.  Make your donations to “XTRA Parish Share Donation.” At the beginning of January a final “2 for 1 challenge” report will be given.

2013 CALENDARS "FOR FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN"

These calendars are available for families with children.  You can find them around both churches.  They are provided for you from the “Teichart – Gracan Funeral Home.”

NEWTOWN CHILDREN REMEMBERED

Before we forget, but may we never forget!!!    Twas’ 11 days before Christmas, around 9:38 am when 20 beautiful children stormed through heaven’s gate.  Their smiles were contagious, their laughter filled the air.  They could hardly believe all the beauty they saw there.  They were filled with such joy, they didn’t know what to say.  They remembered nothing of what had happened earlier that day.  “Where are we?” asked a little girl, as quiet as a mouse.  “This is heaven,” declared a small boy.  “We’re spending Christmas at God’s house.” When what to their wondering eyes did appear, but Jesus their savior, the children gathered near.  He looked at them and smiled, and they smiled just the same.  Then He opened His arms and He called them by name.  And in that moment was joy that only heaven can bring to those children who all flew into the arms of their King and as they lingered in the warmth of His embrace, one small girl turned and looked at Jesus’ face. And as if He could read all the questions she had, He gently whispered to her, “I’ll take care of mom and dad.” Then He looked down on earth, the world far below, He saw all of the hurt, the sorrow, the woe.  Then He closed His eyes and He outstretched His hand, “Let my power and presence re-enter the land!”  “ May this country be delivered from the hands of fools” “I’m taking back my nation. I’m taking back my schools!” Then He and the children stood up without a sound.  “Come now my children, let me show you around.” Excitement filled the space, some skipped and some ran.  All displaying enthusiasm that only a child can.  And I heard Him explain as He walked out of sight, “in the midst of this darkness, I am still the LIGHT.

GIVE THE BEST GIFT - A GIFT OF LIFE - ORGAN DONOR NEEDED

I received this letter from former parishioners of Christ the Light of the World Parish – Linda & Glenn Westerlund who now live in Eastern Pa.  Dear Fr. Dennis:  We have a request.  Our 22 year old son, Glenny’s kidney disease has progressed faster than they thought.  He is going to need a transplant in the next 6 months to 2 years.  They have no way of knowing exactly how long, but his kidney function is getting worse. He has been on a kidney transplant list for 2 years and 3 months.  However, it usually takes about 4 – 5 years on the list to get a transplant for his blood type – Type O.  Therefore, he is in need of a donor.  If anyone is interested in being an organ donor and offering my son the gift of life, we would be forever grateful.  Even if someone doesn’t match him, they can take a donation and find someone else that has a donation that  doesn’t match and then do a cross donation.  They can accept the donation and share it in order to get the one that Glenny needs.  The entire process can be totally confidential.  We won’t know if anyone looks into donation or changes their mind until the actual donor is determined.  I have all the information needed to become the donor.  They would start by contacting Alicia Sato at Hahneman Hospital.  Her contact information is (215-762-8338) or Alicia.sato@tenehealth.com.  Please pray the our son will get the kidney he needs.

THANK YOU RECEIVED

On behalf of the County Program “Resource Mothers”, I would like to thank you for your generous gifts of baby items.  What a blessing, once again, to show your love and generosity in helping our families. This program continues its mission in the Mon Valley by supporting mothers and to reduce infant mortality and morbidity. With the help of your outreach ministry, we are, in turn able to bless many families we serve and they much appreciate your love and commitment............Renee Joiner, Program Manager
