CHRISTMAS EVE AND CHRISTMAS DAY MASS SCHEDULE

4:00 PM (Christmas Eve) – St. Joseph
6:00 PM (Christmas Eve) – Holy Name
9:00 PM (Christmas Eve) – Holy Name
8:30 AM (Christmas Day) – St. Hedwig
10:00 AM (Christmas Day) – St. Joseph.

This year, we will be examining very closely Mass attendance at all Christmas Masses to see if we really need 4 Masses.  Most especially, we will be looking at the 8:30 am Mass.

BE A WELCOMING PARISH COMMUNITY

The holidays are a special time of the year to show what a “welcoming community” we are to the many visitors who come to our parishes in Duquesne to experience our beautiful liturgies.  First impressions are lasting impressions!  In order to make a good and lasting impression on our visitors, I would ask everyone to refrain from “saving seats” at all of our Masses.  If your family members must sit together then make sure you tell them what time Mass is and get there early like everyone else.  There is nothing more unwelcoming than to see people come to Mass and be told that “this seat is saved for someone else.”  Many of those for whom the seat is being saved don’t even come to Mass regularly anyway.

CELEBRATING THE SEASON OF ADVENT

Memorial Christmas Flowers:  Use your “Christmas flower envelope” to make a donation in memory or honor of a family member, loved one or friend.  Write down their names. Drop in the collection or mail to the rectory until Christmas.  A memorial listing will be published after the Christmas season.

Christmas Wafers (Oplatki):  These wafers will be available at Holy Name Rectory, Monday thru Friday (9am – 5 pm) and from the ushers at the 5pm Sat. and 11:30 am Sun. Masses and in the sacristy after the 9 am Mass.

Reachout in Love:  Anyone wishing to help the needy during the Holiday Season is invited to make either a monetary donation or a food store gift card.  This is a simple, effective and caring way to let those who receive, accept in an anonymous yet dignified manner.

2013 Religious Calendars Available:   The yearly calendars are available around the churches for you to take.  We would like to thank the Maloy –Schleifer Funeral Home for sponsoring them for us at both of our parishes.

CHRISTIAN MOTHERS NEWS

The Christian Mothers will meet on Tuesday, December 18.  They will pray the Rosary at 11:45 am followed by Mass at 12 noon in [HN] Church.  Ladies are asked to wear their Christmas glitter and bring their cookie tin with at least 3 dozen cookies for the cookie exchange.  A light lunch will be served and Christmas Carols will be sung by the members.  Don’t forget to bring your non-perishable food item for the Intersection.

THANK YOU RECEIVED

Dear Fr. Dennis:  Thank you so much for the many, many bags of food items, paper products, toys, bandaids, raisins, toothbrushes, light bulbs, art supplies, Kleenex, snacks and other items which were donated by your parishioners to Angel’s Place.  The people of your parishes certainly understand the meaning of giving, and we don’t know how to put into words how very grateful we are for their kindness and generosity. Your generosity is a blessing to us and our family and children.  God bless you and your parishioners for your support of our program..... Beth Banas, Senior Program Director

Dear Fr. Dennis:  On behalf of all of us at the Intersection, I extend our thanks to you and the members of your parishes for helping meet our needs through your Thanksgiving “Reachout” Project.  We are grateful for these generous donations which helps in our ministry with people who are hungry and homeless. …….Sister Barbara Marshall

PERSONAL REFLECTIONS ON THE MEN'S AND WOMEN'S SPIRITUAL FOCUS GROUP

  • It’s a privilege to come together as men of faith; reaching out to each other personally and to share in life’s journeys. We draw from each other’s strengths to aid in our weakness.  Through this communion, we gain a clearer image of our Awesome God and His love for us!
  • The Women’s Spiritual Focus Group is enriching my faith, my life and my spirituality.  It is teaching me to have a more intimate relationship with God.  As women of faith, we share our ideas and experiences of our daily lives.  Thank you, women.  A heartfelt thanks to Rowena, for sharing her spirituality with us.  She is truly God sent and filled with the Holy Spirit.
