You can make a monetary donation to help a needy family of our parish for Thanksgiving. Drop the donation in the collection or mail to the rectory. Mark the envelope, “Reachout.” Another easy way to participate is by donating some “Food Store Gift Cards.” Hungry people are a major issue for us.
CANS OF COINS
Start saving your coins/change for our traditional “coin offering” at our Thanksgiving Liturgy which helps needy families. This is another great way to teach your children about charitable giving.
SPIRITUAL FOCUS GROUPS
The Men’s and Women’s Spiritual Focus Groups will be meeting this week. Hopefully, the personal written remarks by the members would inspire you to participate in this vital ministry for our parish and it’s membership.
REST IN PEACE
Please remember Michael Maloney Jr. and Paul Simurda who died and was buried this past week.
We would like to thank the family and friends of Bob Novak, who at the time of his recent death asked for memorial donations be made to Christ the Light of the World Parish. We have received $635.00 in donations towards our 2 for 1 challenge. We are grateful.
Also, we would like to thankfully acknowledge the person who “anonymously” made a donation of $3,333.33 to the 2 for 1 challenge for personal and health blessings that they recently received.
HONORING AND REMEMBERING OUR VETERANS
It is with great pride that we are able to honor all the men and women who have served our country in the armed forces. On Saturday evening, November 10, at the 5:00 pm Mass, we will honor and remember the men and women who served in any branch of the armed forces in wartime or in time of peace. We would ask that you bring something special with you to the Mass or some military memento left by a loved one (i.e. a medal, uniform, picture, etc.) These will be blest during the mass that day.
ELECTION DAY PASTA BUFFET SUPPER
With all the new ideas and activity coming forth recently, we decided to continue this exciting time by reframing our annual Election Day dinner. The parish is going to host a “Pasta Buffet Supper” on Tuesday, November 6 in the Holy Name Hall from 3:30 to 6:30 pm. We hope this will be a success so we can attempt other creative endeavors in the future. Cost of the dinner is $6.00 – adults and $3.00 - first child (12 & under, children after the first child under 12 yrs. old – EAT FREE.) You may eat in or take out.
- Volunteers – we need volunteers to help serve at the buffet. If you can give us a few hours, just call the rectory and leave your name.
- Baked Goods – everyone is asked to bake something and bring it to the church hall that day or drop your donation off at the rectory the day before.
- Sauce for Sale - we made extra sauce for those who wish to buy some to take home. It is selling for $5.00 a quart. Call the rectory to place an order or just pick it up on Tuesday.
FOCUS GROUPS - ALIVE AND WELL
One of the most excitingly and enriching spiritual activities that has occurred over the last 2 years in our parishes has been our “Men’s and Women’s Spiritual Focus Groups.” The groups are always open to new members who wish to enrich their faith, their spirituality, and their own personal life. What the Women’s Spiritual Focus has done for me: Being a 12 year old convert, I welcomed this group to learn more. Our current focus is on Mary and her numerous journeys. Each month I leave our session with a better understanding of Her plus I am always enlightened about something in my own spirituality. It is more than I ever expected it to be. The group gets closer and more comfortable each month. Thank you, Rowena
The next meeting of the Women’s Spiritual Focus Group will be held Wednesday, November 7, 6:30 pm in HN Hall.
The next meeting of the Men’s Spiritual Focus Group will be held on Thursday, November 8, 6:30 pm in HN Hall.
It may be the spark that you need or are looking for in your life to make it more meaningful and enriching!!
TRIP TO THE MEADOWS
