ALL THINGS NEW

New Times for CCD Classes:  Classes will resume on the weekend, January 8 and classes will be held from 10:00 am to 11:15 am. This change was made in part so parents could go with their children to Mass, as well as fulfill their responsibility to provide a religious education. They can attend before or after CCD Classes.

Updating our Parish Records:  In our continual journey to keep our records current and updated, we need your help. If anyone has moved recently we need an updated address, etc.   If there are any adult children living at home and who are working, we would like to send them envelopes so they can participate by supporting our parish to keep it alive and viable. If any adult children have moved then we need to know also, so we won’t waste postage on sending the mailing from the parish.

CHRISTMAS POINSETTIA GIVE AWAY

You will find the flowers that adorned the altars at Christmas in back and in front of our churches.  If anyone would like to take one for yourself to raise or take one to a shut in or elderly person, please feel free to do so.  The ones that remain after this weekend will be given a peaceful rest.

YEAR END CONTRIBUTION STATEMENTS

We would like to notify all of our parishioners that their 2011 contribution statements are available for your annual income tax preparation.  You can call the rectory or leave your name on the voice mail and we will prepare them.  We will send them to you the Friday after you call.

HELP THE NEEDY - DONATE YOUR CAR

“Cars for Help”, a 501 (c) 3not for profit charity, is working to strengthen individual churches and various Catholic charities through vehicle donations.  The process is fast and easy, and requires just a phone call or visit to our website. If you would like to donate a vehicle in any condition, even severely broken or crashed, or just have questions, please call us directly at (630-595-9272.) You can also donate your vehicle at www.CarsForHelp.com. With the mention of this bulletin of your vehicle donation proceeds will go directly to Christ the Light of the World Parish.

UPDATED PARISH SHARE PROGRAM INFORMATION

The 2011 Parish Share Program is quickly drawing to a close.  We would like to pass on some information for you.  So far, we have received $40,979.00 towards our goal of $47,813.00.   This leaves us a balance of $6,834.00.  The outright donations and pledges came from 197 parish families.  If the other 700 families had done just a little bit, we would have exceeded our goal and could have put the overage towards our 2 for 1 challenge.  As it is, we will take the unpaid balance from our parish savings. If anyone would like to pay off this balance, give Fr. Dennis a call.

Some things to note:

  • We are grateful to all those who participated.  The amount collected is the best we have done in several years.  Mainly because many parishioners understood the need to hit this goal and save the parish money in the long run.
  • All of you who put a little extra in the “extra PSP monthly envelope”, your donation was a HUGE benefit to us. The extra envelope started in July and for the first six months we collected $6,218.00. If this level continues for the next year, we may hit our goal and not have to diminish our savings which then can be used for upkeep and maintenance issues.
  • This week’s 2nd collection for St. Anthony School and DePaul Institute for Children with Hearing and Speech impediments goes to our PSP balance. These children have autism and cognitive disabilities.
