SURVEY RETURNS REQUESTED

As you read this bulletin, I am sure that you have had time to digest the recently mailed, “2 for 1 Challenge” Dollars at Work & Parishioner Survey Newsletter.  I highly encourage everyone to respond to the survey by the deadline of October 3.  These surveys will provide the input and information needed as we plan for our future.  Remember, this survey can be either an opportunity or a challenge and a responsibility.   As I indicated in the newsletter, I am confident and would personally rather replace the furnace and keep St. Hedwig Church open and functioning.  But if most of you choose not to replace the furnace and close the church building then I would respect your wishes.  We must all do our part, words do not keep buildings fully functioning; actions and donations do.

OCTOBER - ROSARY MONTH

Parishioners are invited to pray the rosary during the month of October before the 8:30 am Mass.  There will be special intentions that we will be asked to remember on the specific days (October 2 – For World Peace.)  We would ask that out of respect for those praying, for those who are always socializing loudly before Mass refrain from doing so.

JOINT PASTORAL COUNCIL MEETING

All member of both parish pastoral council are reminded that our next joint meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 5 beginning at 6:30 pm in the Holy Name Hall.  Please make plans to be there.  All members as well as parish staff members and ancillary persons involved with different areas of the parish are expected to be present.  All parishioners of both parishes are also always invited to attend.  Some of the agenda items will include Fr. Dennis’s report on the process to be followed to merge our parishes in January of 2013.  If you are unable to be present or no longer wish to serve the parish in this capacity, please call Fr. Dennis.

IS GOD CALLING YOU TO BECOME A CATHOLIC

Does your life seem quite unsettled at this time?  Have you thought about the fact that God may be calling you to enter into a process and become a catholic?  To help find an answer to these questions, you might want to consider entering the “Process of Christian Initiation.”  This process you formally begin on Monday, Oct. 3 at 6:30 pm in the Holy Name Hall.  Questions, call Fr. Dennis.

  • Who is this process for:  If you have never been baptized, or were baptized in another religion other than Catholic or were baptized Catholic and never received any other sacraments, then this process is for you.

PARISH SHARE PROGRAM UPDATE

So far, we have received $28,456.00 in outright donations and pledge payments towards our assessed goal of $47,813.00.  The gifts came from 178 parishioners.  This leaves us a balance of $19,357.00, which must be paid by December 31, 2011.  If we do not hit our goal, we will have to take the balance from our operating savings, which will not give us the opportunity to continue to address all the needed upkeep and repair issues that we have been facing recently and which you have been made aware of in the recent bulletins and newsletter mailing.
