ALL SOULS REMEMBRANCES

“Books of Remembrance”: - Beginning next Sunday, October 16, we will be putting out the “Memorial Books” for you to write the names of all of your deceased loved ones who have died and who you would like to have remembered in a special way during our All Souls Celebration on Sunday, October 30.

“Masses of Remembrance”: On Sunday, October 30, there will be a special remembrance at all three morning Masses of all those who were buried from that particular church since the last All Souls Remembrance, 2010.  Invitations will be sent to one family member of those to be remembered and are asked to notify your other family members and friends.

OCTOBER - ROSARY MONTH

Parishioners are invited to pray the rosary at the 8:30 am Mass during the month of October.  There will be special intentions that we pray for - (October 23 – For the sick and dying.)  We would ask that out of respect for those praying, for those who are always socializing loudly before Mass refrain from doing so.

BAPTISMS

Congratulations to the family of Isabella Margaret Bayton, who is baptized this week.

HOAGIE SALE

We would like to remind everyone that our next hoagie sale will be the weekend of Oct. 29/30.  This has been a great fundraiser for the parish.  Volunteers:  We would like to increase our volunteer pool because more help is always better. Making the hoagies is a fun and social event, an opportunity to meet nice people who care about their parish.  It usually takes about 3 hours to finish the job.  If you can give that amount of time, or an hour or two, just come down to Holy Name Hall at 8:00 am on Saturday, October 29.  Sellers:  We would like to continue to expand our services and product. If anyone would like to sell to those at work, the office, or at school where you may teach, please do so.  Just take their orders and let us know how many you need and we will get them ready for you.  You could even take them to work on Monday.  They are still fresh and delicious.

THANK YOU'S RECEIVED

Dear Fr. Dennis:  On behalf of the Fr. Beiting Appalachian Mission Center, I would like to thank everyone for all the goods that were donated from you parish Flea Market in order to help the poor in Appalachia and other parts of the country.  I want to thank everyone who helped load the trucks.  Five full tractor trailer loads were taken to the Mission Warehouse in Louisa, Kentucky. Thanks for bringing the Gospel message of love and life in the name of God to countless people who need to be uplifted with hope, respect, dignity and self-worth.   With Thanks, Fr. Tom Lewandowski

Dear Fr. Dennis and parishioners:  Thank you so much for your generous donation to the babies of “Newborns in Need.” We were thrilled to receive all the beautiful items (and diapers too.) May God bless you as you have blessed us.

CHRISTIAN MOTHERS NEWS

SUPPORTING OUR TROOPS

We wanted to let everyone know that you can “STOP MAILING” packages to our adopted squadron and troops in Afghanistan.  They are being deployed back home.  This is good news for all of us.

WINTER COAT DRIVE

The “Rainbow Community Kitchen” is collecting new and gently used winter outer wear (coats, hats, scarves, gloves) for their annual winter distribution.  Sizes needed are infants thru adults, sizes 2x & 3x are especially needed.  Donations can be dropped off at the Rainbow Kitchen, 135 E. 9th Ave., Homestead, Monday thru Friday (9am – 5 pm) by October 21For information, contact Marlene Murphy (412-464-1892) or marlene.murphy@rainbowkitchen.org.

NEW MASS CHANGES

There will be an educational informational workshop on the “New Mass Parts” for anyone who is interested.  The workshop will be held at St. Maximilian Parish, 363 West 11th Ave. Ext, Homestead on Tuesday, October 18 at 7:00 pm.  It will be given by Fr. Jim Gretz of the Diocesan Worship Office.

PARISH SHARE PROGRAM UPDATE

We would like to update everyone on the progress of our yearly Parish Share Program. To date, we have received $30,448.00 in outright donations and pledge payments from 181 parishioners towards our assessed goal of $47,813.00. This leaves us a balance of $17,365.00 which we must pay by Dec. 31 and will have to take from our savings if we don’t hit our goal.  Reminder invitations are being sent this week to invite those who haven’t to participate.  If we go over our goal, the monies remain with our parish tax free.   If we would have hit our goal this past year, we would have had money to replace the St. Hedwig furnace without a special survey and request.
