REST IN PEACE
Pleaes remember Ken Regina, who died and rose to new life with the Lord.
LOVE THAT BECKONS
Love is beckoning, calling, inviting us to the crib, to the manger for the opportunity to find Christ in our hearts and in our lives. May we answer that call by opening our hearts and letting go of those things that continue to hold us back from experiencing the true meaning of this season.
- HOO! HOO! HOO! (Helping Our Own): With so many of our parishioners being laid off from their jobs this year, we thought it is time to Help Our Own. If you know of someone who has lost their job, let Fr. Dennis know. We are asking our parishioners to make a monetary donation, mail to the rectory or drop in the collection. Mark the envelope (Helping Our Own.) The contributions will purchase gift cards and be sent to our parishioners who have been laid off or lost their job. Love beckons us to care for those less fortunate, even those sitting near you.
- Share the Spirit of the Season: We are asking everyone to share that spirit with all of our parishioners in nursing homes, personal care homes, assisted living facilities and the home-centered elderly by sending them a note or card. The updated list is around our churches. Love beckons us not to forget them!!
We are asking you to continue to participate in these very meaningful, valuable and necessary reachouts. Since the Christmas Season continues until Sunday, January 9 (the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord), you are asked to participate and respond in whichever way you wish until that time.
SEASONAL MASS SCHEDULE
Beginning Sunday, January 9, we will begin our “Winter Season Mass Schedule.” It will read as follows: there will be no 8:30 am Mass on Sunday starting January 9 and continuing until April 17 (Palm Sunday.)
STUDENT 2011 CONTRIBUTION ENVELOPES
Contribution envelopes are available in the vestibule of Holy Name Church for all of our students attending Catholic Grade schools and Public and Catholic High Schools. All of our CCD students and Confirmation Students received theirs in class the last two weeks. If anyone did not receive theirs, please give the rectory a call and we will get you some.
MEMORIAL CHRISTMAS FLOWERS
Use your “Christmas flower” envelope to make a donation in memory of a deceased family member, friend or loved one. Write down their names. Drop in the collection or mail to the rectory until Christmas. A memorial listing will be published after the season.
AUTOMOBILE FOR SALE
Fr. Robert Franco, a friend and classmate of Fr. Dennis died in August. Fr. Dennis has the responsibility of selling his automobile. It is a 2007 Black Chrysler Sebring Touring Model with 24,000 miles. He is selling it for the blue book value. Anyone interested, give Fr. Dennis a call and he can show it to you.
ELECTRIC WHEELCHAIR TO BE DONATED
We have available to us an electric wheel chair which the owner wishes to donate to someone who could use it. If anyone is in need of this call Mary (412-466-0570.)
PARISH CHRISTMAS GIFT
We would ask that anyone wishing to make a “Christmas Gift to the Parish” please feel free to do so. You may place it in your Christmas offertory envelope or the best way is in an envelope marked “2 for 1 Challenge.” This challenge has been an absolute blessing for our parish, without it we would not have been able to keep our parish well maintained. There is nothing worse than to see our parish buildings fall down around us. Because of this challenge and your continued generosity we are able to have the physical plant as well as a spiritually thriving parish, something which all can be proud of.
Christ the Light of the World Parish and St. Joseph Parish: Thank you so much for organizing the wonderful generous donation of gifts for the families of Healthy Start House for Christmas. We had fewer donations from other agencies with the difficult economy, but your gifts will really make an enormous difference in their lives this Christmas. Thank you for remembering us.
