ON MISSION FOR THE CHURCH ALIVE! enters an important phase this fall in our parishes throughout the Diocese. On August 29, at the Vicariate 2 meeting for priests, the priests will be presented with the first draft model of all the parishes in the district. (Duquesne, part of West Mifflin, Munhall, and Homestead). For an entire month, the priests will be gathering for focus group discussions and also discuss any questions or concerns at the Priest Convocation at Oglebay at the end of September. After this is completed, the draft model will be presented to the Parish On Mission Committee for discussions, review, questions, and concerns. Fr. Frederick Cain, the Vicariate 2 Regional Vicar, has asked the On Mission Committees for Christ the Light of the World, St. Joseph, and Holy Trinity parishes to meet together. A date for this meeting will be forthcoming. In addition, there will be two town hall meetings to receive input from all of the faithful in November. Dates will be forthcoming. Please continue to be informed by reading the information in the Pittsburgh Catholic for the “Church Alive” and the flyer attached to the bulletin today titled “building the Future”. Let us continue to pray for the presence of the Holy Spirit as we continue to discern the On Mission process. “Instead of being just a Church that welcomes and receives by keeping the doors open, let us try also to be a Church that finds new roads, that is able to step outside itself and go to those who do not attend Mass, to those who have quit or are indifferent.”
