One of the sacraments of healing is the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. This is a sacrament of spiritual, emotional, and physical wholeness. Before Vatican II, this sacrament was referred to as “last rites” or “extreme unction”. Since 1965, the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick has replaced last rites/extreme unction. The whole idea about this reform is to give the greater understanding that God is present at any moment of our lives when we need him, especially in times of illness of any kind. The sacrament is not just about physical death anymore. The sacrament is for any person of any age who is suffering from any chronic/acute illness, terminal illness, emotional duress, old age, approaching surgery, or pending death. If you or someone you know would like to be anointed, please call me at 412-469-0196. Thanks.
