Last Saturday, August 23 was a day we will not soon forget. For the almost 800 people who gathered to celebrate, it was truly a once in a lifetime experience. It was a day filled with prayer, fun and laughter. It was a day complete with every positive human emotion. It was a time to dispel negativity, doom and gloom antics and let joy define us all. If you were there, you had a real experience of the Holy Spirit, alive and active, proving to us what a powerful force for good it is.
The “ice bucket challenge” with Bishop Zubik and Fr. Dennis getting wet became a theological reminder of our Baptism.
As Bishop Zubik said in his challenging remarks that, “we should not be the center of our world but a catalyst to go out and change the world.”
Last Sunday's Parish Picnic became a carry over of the joy of Saturday. The over 250 people who came, were able to process the events of Saturday. Everyone was so happy and joy filled. It was like they were so proud to belong to the faith community here in Duquesne. Thanks to Kristie England, Doug Vranish and their dozen or so of volunteers who provided us with a well executed, down home, laid back event.
