With my continued walking, standing and stability issues, I petitioned Bishop Zubik to see if any help was available so I could continue my pastoral ministry in Duquesne (since I won’t get taken care of any better in the world than here,) Here is the result of my inquiry and my collaborative discussions with the Diocesan Clergy Personnel Director.
"Following discussions with the Clergy Personnel Board, I appoint Fr. Thomas Lewandowski, Administrator of Christ the Light of the World Parish and St. Joseph Parish, as well as part-time Chaplain of Serra High School. Fr. Dennis Colamarino remains the Pastor of both parishes. I am sure Fr. Colamarino will appreciate the assistance you will provide and that the parishioners will welcome you.Your brother in Christ, David A. Zubik"
This is truly a monumental time for all of us, since it may be the first time someone is being assigned to their home parish. I am happy for me, for Tom and for all of us. We prefer to call ourselves “co-workers” as we work to continue allowing the churches of Duquesne to shine bright and lay the foundation for a solid and lasting future.
In the next few weeks, I will be writing a letter to all parishioners so they know what is happening, what changes might be made and my expectations for all of us as we embark on a new journey.
Volunteer Cleaners Needed: We are asking help to clean St. Hedwig Rectory where Fr. Tom will be living. Come on Monday, August 11 at 8:30 am. We’ll give cleaner and cloths, you bring a bucket and elbow grease!!!
