The Season of Holy Week begins this weekend, Palm Sunday. Let’s plan on making this week the holiest and most spiritual week of the year for us. Meditation – Holy Week – This week I will make time for prayer with my parish community. All other matters can wait. The church offers us this annual retreat. This week we remember together the holy meal, the cross, the promised new life. Come and worship on Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday and then enter into the joy of Easter morning.
Holy Thurday: we will begin at 7:00 pm in the Holy Name Church. There will be the coin offering for the poor and the needy. Procession: We will have our annual outdoor procession up to St. Hedwig Church. This year for obvious reasons Fr. Dennis will ride up behind the procession (probably not a popemobile.) Bring a candle in an upside down plastic bottle to carry in our prayerful candlelight procession. If parents could provide safety lights or battery operated candles for the children instead of candles, we can be on the safe side. For those who have trouble walking, meet us up at St. Hedwig for the closing ceremony. This procession is a great teachable moment for children. St. Hedwig Church will remain open one half hour after the ceremony.
Good Friday: The celebration of the Liturgy of the Word, Veneration of the Cross and Communion will begin at 12:00 noon in [HN] Church. The collection will be for the Holy Land. Good Friday is a day of Fast and Abstinence.
Blessing of Easter Foods: will take place on Saturday, March 30 – 12:00 noon – St. Hedwig Church
Holy Saturday – Easter Vigil: 5:00 pm [HN] Church Easter Sunday: 8:30 am [SH] Church, 10:00 am [SJ] Church, 11:30 am [HN] Church. The Easter Candle and New Water will be blest at the 8:30 am & 10:00 am Masses.
