The Season of Holy Week begins. Let’s plan on making this the holiest and most spiritual week of the year for us. Daily Meditation: Holy Week - This week, I will fast from rushing. I will move more slowly through this week, making time for the necessary and the desirable. Many people live as though life were a busy airport, rushing to catch a plane, carrying baggage too heavy for them. The journey is pleasant when we carry less and enjoy our fellow travelers more.
It’s HOLY WEEK. Slow down. Go to church. Celebrate the Services. Pray.
Holy Thursday: we will begin at 7:00 pm in Holy Name Church. There will be the offering of coins for the poor & needy. Procession: We will have our annual outdoor procession at the end of Mass up to St. Hedwig Church. Bring a candle in an upside down plastic bottle to carry in our prayerful candle light procession. This year, if parents could get their children safety lights or battery operated candles or laser lights to carry instead of candles, as a suggestion for their safety. For those who have trouble walking, meet us up at St. Hedwig for the closing ceremony. This ritual is a great lesson for children and grandchildren. St. Hedwig Church will remain open for one half hour afterwards.
Good Friday: Stations of the Cross will be prayed at 11:00 am in St. Joseph Church. At 12:00 noon, in Holy Name Church, we will celebrate the Liturgy of the Word, Veneration of the Cross and Communion. The collection is for the Holy Land. Good Friday is a day of fast and abstinence.
