I am thankful for…., the mess to clean up after a party because it means I have been surrounded by friends. The taxes I pay because it means I am employed. The clothes that fit a little too snug because it means I have enough to eat. My shadow who watches me work because it means that I am in the sunshine. The spot I find at the far end of the parking lot because it means that I am capable of walking. A lawn that needs mowing, windows that need cleaning and gutters that need fixing because it means I have a home. All the complaining I hear about our government because it means we have freedom of speech. The person behind me in church who sings off key because it means I can hear. Weariness and aching muscles at the end of the day because it means I have been productive. My huge heating bill because I am warm The piles of laundry and ironing because it means my loved ones are nearby. The alarm that goes off in the early morning hours because it means I am alive. Because we give, God allows us to receive! This past June, my nephew Stephen Colamarino was married here in Christ the Light of the World Parish. His new father in law who owns a company in West Palm Beach, Florida was here for his daughters wedding. He was overwhelmed and impressed with the beauty of our churches and how in this financially distressed area we are able to thrive and at the same time care for and reach out to the poor and the needy. Because of who we are and what we do, Tom McCaffery sent stock options from his company to Christ the Light of the World Parish. This past week, I received a check for $10,000.68 for the “2 for 1 Challenge.” We give and so we receive.
