THANKSGIVING NEWS

Thanksgiving Mass:  One of our favorite Masses!  Don’t miss this spiritual and meaningful celebration in Holy Name Church – 10:00 am Thanksgiving morning.

Thanksgiving Reachout:  You can make a monetary donation to help a needy family for Thanksgiving. Drop the donation in the collection or mail to the rectory.  Mark the envelope “reachout.” Another easy way to participate is by donating some “Food Store Gift Cards.”  Drop them in the collection or mail to the rectory.

Cans of Coins:  Start saving your coins/change for our traditional “coin offering” at our Thanksgiving Liturgy which helps needy families.  This is another way to teach your children about charitable giving.

REST IN PEACE

Please remember Mary Burda & Edward Dynoske, who died and rose to new life  with the Lord this week.

SOMETHING NEW COMING ON NOVEMBER 30

As we slowly and methodically move to become one parish and as we continue to try to be relevant and use good time management,  you will see on November 30 (the First Sunday of Advent) that we are going to publish 1 bulletin for both parishes.  Both parishes will be equally represented; Fr. Tom’s name will now appear; and he and Fr. Dennis take turns publishing an article “From the Pastor’s Desk.”  We hope you enjoy the new look.

THANKSGIVING BUFFET BREAKFAST

Will be held on Sunday, Nov. 30 in the Holy Name Hall from 9 am – 1:30 pm and hosted by the Caring Ministry. Menu includes:  eggs, bacon, sausage, chipped beef & biscuits, home fries, French toast, rolls, juice. Donation:  Adults - $7.00, Children – 12 & under - $4.00 (first child) other family children under 12,eat free. Volunteers: we need help that morning.  If you can help call Debbie Lesko (412-297-1732) or Terry Fuller (412-466-4223) or terry@christthelightoftheworld.org.

CHRISTMAS GIFTS FOR SALE

Be sure to download the order form for the Holiday gifts (sweatshirts, hoodies, and Christmas ornaments.) Please consider these when doing your Christmas gift list. Our idea was for these items to be more than a fundraiser. With all the “good press coverage and TV spots” this past summer, we thought these shirts and ornaments would be a wonderful way to celebrate and show parish pride. To guarantee a delivery for Christmas, please have your order in by November 23.

CHRISTMAS SHOPPERS HOAGIE SALE

We will be having a homemade hoagie sale on the weekend of December 6/7 at all the Masses in all the churches. This is a great dinner or lunch for those who will be going Christmas shopping.  Volunteers: We need lots of help making hoagies on Saturday morning beginning at 8 am.  If we get lots of help, we should be down by 11:00 am.

70TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY GREETINGS

Two life long and very active members of our parish, Mickey & Steffie Petrozza, who now reside in a Nursing Home in Greensburg will be celebrating their 70th Wedding Anniversary on December 4, 2014.  It would be a nice gesture to send a card or greeting.  I am sure they would appreciate hearing from you and being remembered by their parish. Mickey & Steffie Petrozza, c/o Nature Park Commons, 132 Nature Park Rd., Greensburg, Pa. 15601

PARISH SHARE PROGRAM UPDATE

So far, we have received $37,464.00 in outright donations and pledge payments from 132 donors.  This leaves us a balance of $17,497.00 which must be paid by December 31, 2014. If we hit our goal like we did last year, the money stays in the parish tax free.  Food for thought:  If 174 people make a $100.00 donation, we would go over our goal easily.
