Welcome Bishop David Zubik !!!
It is with great joy and excitement that we welcome Bishop David Zubik to Duquesne to celebrate and commemorate with us, my 25 years of priestly service to the Church of Duquesne. This is such a monumental day for all of us. It gives us the opportunity to properly reflect on our past, honor the past in the present moment by gathering as the parishioners of the Church of Duquesne with the chief shepherd of the Church of Pittsburgh.
I am grateful to all the past 4 bishops who have served our Diocese because each of them has had a part in the evolvement of my priestly ministry in Duquesne and had the confidence in my ability to do the job that they envisioned. Bishop Leonard first sent me to Duquesne 25 years ago as Fr. Bryan’s assistant. Bishop Bevilacqua then made me Pastor. Bishop Wuerl assigned me to St. Hedwig, made me Pastor of Christ the Light of the World Parish, and eventually, Pastor of St. Joseph. Bishop Zubik has continued that process and will hopefully be here to celebrate when we finally make the 2 parishes into one. I often tell the Bishop, “I have slept in the same bed for 25 years, but I have moved 6 times.”
