Thanksgiving - A Time to Be Thankful!

For the beauty of the earth…For majestic mountains, rolling plains, fertile valleys…For thundering waterfalls, and meandering streams…For brilliant leaves, sparkling snow and green grass…For dandelions, roses, ivy and lilies…For the sun that gives life to all and for the moon that makes the night bearable…For human life – embryo to old age…For families to nurture our growing up…For friends to share good times and bad…For spouses to help us learn how to love…For children to teach us how to serve…For a culture to civilize our passions…For a church that is an outpost of God’s kingdom…For scripture that narrates God’s living presence…For Mass that keeps Jesus alive among us…For baptism that grafts us onto the Body of Christ…For reconciliation that binds up our wounds…For matrimony that divinizes human love…For language that enables us to talk to each other…For music and dance that bring rhythm, beat and gracefulness into our lives…For painting, sculpture and architecture that beautifies our environment….For movies that enlarge our life…For technology that eases life’s burdens…For television that expands our vision…For photographs that freeze our frantic activity…For science that searches the depths of matter…For humanities that ennoble our understanding…For theology that gives us insight into God…For the gift of health and the lessons of suffering…For the chance to serve others and to help the poor and the needy.  For food, clothing and homes…For all your innumerable gifts. ....Fr. James Smith
